The DPS reports one person was killed in a multi-vehicle wreck on I-10 near Gator
Country in Jefferson County. An 18-wheeler was traveling westbound, when for some
unknown reason the driver stopped on the interstate and was rear-ended by a pickup.
The driver of the pickup, a 20-year old Orange resident, was ejected from the pickup and
was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt. About the
same time a wreck occurred on the eastbound side near the same location. The wrecks
forced the interstate to be shutdown.
