Operation Blessing International Coordinating Harvey Cleanup Efforts

BEAUMONT & PORT ARTHUR, TX (September 5, 2017) – Operation Blessing International, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in America, is now coordinating volunteer efforts in Beaumont and Port Arthur, TX. The charity is also asking residents of either community whose homes were damaged in the storm to sign up for free help (see details below).


Based in Virginia Beach, Operation Blessing International deployed its U.S. Disaster Relief team to Texas prior to Harvey making landfall. Specializing in disaster relief and logistics, Operation Blessing’s convoy of equipment arrived from the organization’s Ocala, FL warehouse and includes a two mobile command centers/volunteer reception centers, two construction trailers loaded with tools and protective equipment, three trucks full of volunteer equipment and supplies, a mobile kitchen capable of serving 2,000 hot meals each day, a shower trailer and an 80kw generator. The organization has coordinated volunteers and delivered and distributed thousands of pounds of emergency food and supplies in Rockport, Beaumont and Taft, TX through its fleet of semi-trailer trucks.



Beaumont and Port Arthur Residents are invited come in person to fill out a work request for FREE volunteer help at:

-Beaumont: Cathedral Church (2350 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, TX)

-Port Arthur: Life Church (4600 Jimmy Johnson Blvd, Port Arthur, TX)


All residents must sign a work order form and a release form in person allowing volunteer teams access to your property. Volunteers will not be able to do work without a form SIGNED BY THE HOMEOWNER. Priority is given based on need (elderly, sick, disabled, etc) and is based on volunteer availability. Volunteer services offered include general debris removal, help finding and sorting salvageable belongings, chainsaw work, heavy equipment debris removal and installing tarps on damaged roofs. Operation Blessing will be accepting local volunteers daily.Volunteers should meet at the Operation Blessing Mobile Command Center located at:  Orientation will begin promptly at 8:30 and registration at 8:00 AM.

Orientation starts at 8:30am.  For more information please call 757.374.0944. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, dress appropriately for work in the field (long pants and hard soled shoes or work boots) and also provide their own transportation to and from the work site.


Operation Blessing has now opened registration for out-of-town volunteers needing lodging, with those relief efforts to begin September 11. Teams of volunteers (no single registrants) can register by calling 757.226.3407 or emailing volunteer@ob.org.  You must register 48 hours in advance by phone and have a confirmed reservation.
