The Top 10 Country One Hit Wonders?! See If You Agree (VIDEOS)

It's National One Hit Wonder Day!!! Some of the songs I TOTALLY forgot about but totally LOVED so this was fun remembering those great One Hits in Country Music! I Did NOT compile this list (Originally on Ranker Music)  but I did find it to be pretty spot on if I HAD put a list together.

Below from 10-1 I have shared the Top 10 Best Country One Hit Wonders. What Country One Hit Wonder would you add to the list?

10. The Wreckers- "Leave The Pieces" (2006)

LOVED and still love this song that was recorded by the two ladies Michelle Branch (yes the pop singer lol) and Jessica Harp who shortly after the release of their one hit dsbanded. HOWEVER, this past August (2017) they reunited SO they may NOT be a One Hit Wonder for long!!!

9. Heartland- "I Loved Her First"  (2006)

I am certain you heard this song if you attended ANY wedding or wedding reception since 2006!! Became a favorite Father/Daughter Dance song and understandbly so!!

8. Billy Ray Cyrus- "Achy Breaky Heart" (1992)

Oh how can we forget this one?!?! It's not for a lack of trying believe me *sigh* Miley's daddy released his signature hit that crossed over to the pop charts and, thanks to the video, the line-dance became a worldwide craze! The song is also considered by some as one of the worst songs of all time!

7. Jamey Johnson- "In Color" (2008)

Absolutely love this song!! Jamey has of course released other songs BUT none would achieve the success that his nostalgic 2008 hit brought him.

6. David Lee Murphy- "Dust On The Bottle" (1994)

DLM stormed onto the Country Music Scene with his promising debut album "Out With A Bang" that included his minimal hit "Party Crowd" but it was Dust On the Bottle that became his most successful single in his career. Oh he is STILL very much in the music business...a very SUCCESSFUL songwriter who has written numerous hits over the years for other Country stars.

5. Bobbie Gentry- "Ode To Billie Joe" (1967)

The narrative and somewhat, at that time, risque hit became a fan favorite in the late 60's. The lyrics have sparked controversy and speculation over the years as to what was REALLY going on and WHY Billie Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge (google IF I had compiled this list, THIS song would be #1 on mine!!

4.  Lynn Anderson- "Rose Garden" (1970)

I'm not really sure why this made the list...Oh IT IS A GREAT song AND was A HUGE Hit But the late Lynn Anderson (died ih 2015) had a string of hits so you cannot really consider her or the song a one hit wonder (sorry Ranker Miusic)

CMT ranks "Rose Garden" at No. 83 on its list of the "100 Greatest Songs in Country Music History"

3. Deanna Carter- "Strawberry Wine" (1996)

I remember when I first played this song on the radio I was immediately a fan of Deanna!! She was a woman's woman, ya know very RELATABLE and I just knew she was going to be the next "big Country female" singer. Well, I missed that BUT like Lynn Anderson above, CAN'T say she was a  One Hit Wonder with THREE number singles over her short career including Strawberry Wine! (Again I didn't make this list)

2. Kevin Sharp- "Nobody Knows" (1996)

The cover song (orginally recorded by Tony Rich in 1995) was Sharp's one and only #1 song in his career. Diagnosed while a senior in High School with a rare form of bone cancer, he became somewhat of a success story with his cancer in remission in the early 90's and by the time he recorded his one hit. Sadly just a few years ago in 2014 Kevin Sharp died at the age of 43.

1. Jeannie C. Riley- "Harper Valley PTA" (1968)

A HUGE crossover hit for the Texas native that released several singles from 1968 all the way through the early 80's but none would ever be as successful as her debut song that went all the way to #1
