TODAY’S TOPICS:

Nothing to celebrate …Seems another casualty of COVID-19 is champagne. Without weddings, graduations, parties and, well, anythingto celebrate, sales of champagne are down nearly $2 billion since the pandemic started. According to The Champagne Committee, an association that represents roughly 16,000 winemakers, “We are experiencing a crisis that we evaluate to be even worse than the Great Depression.” This will ultimately lead to "... record quantities of grapes [being] destroyed or sold to distilleries at discounted prices."Who says you can only drink champagne on big celebrations? Maybe it’s time to buy some bubbly and celebrate the little things in life.(Delish)

No surprise …Parents are worried about sending their kids back to school. A new survey found that 82% pf parents are more worried about sending kids back to school than ever before. 4 in 5 parents said they are thinking about homeschooling their kids this year. And 25% of respondents said that if the decision to open schools were up to them, they wouldn't allow their kids to go back to school in the fall.

According to the survey, these are parents’ top worries about sending their kids back to school:

  1. Staying healthy – 66%
  2. Making sure kids wash their hands properly – 61%
  3. Ensuring kids maintain social distance while at school – 59% (SWNS)

Speaking of back-to-school … According to a new study out of Yale University, it’s going to take a lot more than health screenings to prevent outbreaks on college campuses. Researchers say that students should be tested for the virus every two to three days -- along with wearing masks and social distancing. Very soon, we’ll get to see how this school year starts -- and where it goes. (WKYT-TV)

Pumpkin Spice Season is coming …It may seem like every day is the same, but fall is coming – and that means Pumpkin Spice Season. And, according to the rumor mill, PSLs are set to return to Starbucks at the end of the month. A Starbucks in California posted on Instagram that they had received their pumpkin spice supplies and said “coming August 28th.”Something to look forward to?(Business Insider)
