Looks like Whitney Houston will finally get the biopic she deserves. This time, Pat Houston is working with Clive Davis on “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
They’ve recruited “Bohemian Rhapsody” writer Anthony McCarten to pen the script with Stella Meghie on board to direct.
We are finally getting our first look at the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic. The trailer for the film, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” was just released, featuring the first footage of actress Naomi Ackie playing the late pop star.
The film is described by Sony as a “no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice.” It also stars Ashton Sanders as Bobby Brown, Stanley Tucci as Clive Davis, Clarke Peters as Whitney’s father John and Tamara Tunie as Whitney’s mom Cissy Houston.
“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” opens December 21st.
Whitney was 48 when she died in 2012 from an accidental drowning at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
