A South Carolina home thatâs decorated to look like its engulfed in flames is so realistic that the local fire department gets calls about it. Homeowners Amanda Peden and Sam Lee have had their display, which features realistic fire effects in every window, for the last two Halloweens. So while the number of calls has decreased, they still come in â and the fire department responds. Firefighters usually check in by phone to ensure everything is OK, but theyâll send first responders if a caller seems genuinely alarmed.
âWhen Amanda first put this up two years ago, we were getting a constant stream of calls,â Fountain Inn Fire Chief Russell Alexander said. âThis year, itâs not quite there, but as of October 6th, weâve already had four calls.â Alexander emphasized that anyone planning life-like Halloween setups should notify local emergency services ahead of time to avoid unnecessary dispatches.
